Starsand Island Gift Guide: All 15 Villagers & Loved Gifts
Every Starsand Island romanceable villager with wiki-verified birthdays, loved gifts, Heart Level unlocks, and the full cohabitation system. Plus which villagers are easiest to befriend first.
The Starsand Island wiki lists 15 romanceable villagers with a 5-Heart affection system. Alex loves only Diamonds, Solara loves Strawberry Mousse, while Graminova and Pastelle love hundreds of everyday items. At Heart Level 5 you can invite any NPC to move in with you, but only one at a time.
Gifting is the core friendship system in Starsand Island, the cozy island life sim from Seed Sparkle Lab that launched in version 1.0 on August 18, 2026. Every villager keeps a personal Loved, Liked, Neutral, Disliked, and Hated gift list, and giving the right item is the fastest way to unlock dialogue, quests, and romance. This guide was rebuilt on September 7, 2026 against the character database and romance guide, so every name, birthday, and gift below matches the current live roster rather than pre-release promotional material.
How the Affection System Works
Starsand Island tracks relationships through a 5-Heart affection system. Every NPC has five heart levels you progress through by accumulating affection points. You can check your current standing in the Social app on your in-game phone, navigate to the Residents tab, where romanceable characters display the label “Bond” beneath their portrait.
Heart Level Thresholds and Unlocks
| Heart Level | Points Needed | Cumulative Total | What Unlocks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Heart 1 | 90 | 90 | Return gifts, the NPC may send you items in the mail |
| Heart 2 | - | , | Photo invites, group photos and outings become available |
| Heart 3 | 150 | 370 | Room access, you can enter the NPC’s private bedroom (contains a gift chest) |
| Heart 4 | 400 | 770 | Bulletin board requests and personal story quests |
| Heart 5 | - | , | Cohabitation, you can invite the NPC to move into your house |
The jumps from Heart 3 to Heart 4 (400 points) and Heart 4 to Heart 5 (750 points) are significantly larger than earlier levels, so reaching cohabitation takes sustained effort. A focused player giving a loved gift and chatting daily earns roughly 20–30 points per day, meaning Heart 5 takes about 50–75 in-game days of consistent interaction.
How to Earn Affection Points
| Action | Affection Points |
|---|---|
| Daily conversation | +5 |
| Gift (universal like) | +5 |
| Gift (liked item) | +10 |
| Gift (loved / favorite item) | +15 |
| Returning a lost item | +20 |
| Bulletin board request (easy) | ~15 |
| Bulletin board request (hard) | ~25–30 |
| Profession quest completion | Up to +50 |
Key rule: You can give only one gift per NPC per day. Disliked and hated gifts award zero points but still consume your daily gift slot, they do not reduce affection, but they waste the opportunity. Neutral gifts also award zero points. The game does not flag neutral gifts, so track them yourself or stick to confirmed loved items.
Pro tip: Trash, weeds, failed dishes, and Red Firefly (except for Sylvain and Youfang) are universally hated. When in doubt, give a Moonflower: it is loved or liked by nearly every romanceable NPC on the island.

Birthday Calendar: Plan Your Gift Runs
Birthdays in Starsand Island are golden opportunities, giving a loved gift on a villager’s birthday earns bonus affection. The game starts in Summer (Day 1), so the earliest birthdays you encounter belong to Delphin (Summer 3), Serena (Summer 11), Alex (Summer 13), Zephyria (Summer 16), Zerine (Summer 17) and Stella (Summer 18).
Sorted by In-Game Season
| Season | Date | Villager |
|---|---|---|
| Spring | 3 | Graminova |
| Spring | 10 | Pastelle |
| Spring | 14 | Sylvain |
| Spring | 17 | Zerine |
| Spring | 28 | Youfang |
| Summer | 3 | Delphin |
| Summer | 11 | Serena |
| Summer | 13 | Aurelis, Alex, Neona |
| Summer | 16 | Zephyria |
| Fall | 6 | Loren |
| Fall | 16 | Lunelle |
| Fall | 26 | Solara |
| Winter | 18 | Stella |
Note: Summer 13 is Alex’s birthday, stockpile a loved gift in advance. For Alex, that means acquiring a Diamond, which is the only item she loves.
The Easiest and Hardest Villagers to Befriend
Because loved-gift lists differ wildly in size, some villagers are far easier to shop for than others.
Narrow lists, picky villagers. Alex accepts exactly one loved item, the Diamond, and Aurelis likewise only lists the Aurorite Ore. Solara loves just Strawberry Mousse, and Stella loves Black Tea Macarons. Youfang’s loved items center on bamboo. For these villagers a wrong guess rarely lands, so check their wiki page before spending rare items.
Broad lists, easy villagers. Graminova’s loved list spans hundreds of entries and covers nearly every crop, seed, and dish on the island, which makes the local farmer the easiest friendship target for a new player. Pastelle loves 231 items, mostly clothing and every kind of animal feed. Delphin enjoys 81 gifts, including every flower color variant plus fireworks, while Loren’s loved items include all metal ingots and coffee drinks.
The Moonflower Strategy
Moonflower is the closest thing Starsand Island has to a universal loved gift. It appears on the loved or liked list of almost every romanceable NPC. The only notable exception is Loren, who prefers metal ingots and coffee drinks over flowers. Growing Moonflowers (found in the Moonlit Forest) and keeping a stack of 10–15 on hand means you always have a fallback gift for any character you encounter.
Profession Mentors Are Easier to Romance
Five of the 15 romanceable NPCs also serve as profession mentors: Graminova (Farming), Delphin (Fishing), Pastelle (Ranching), Zephyria (Exploration), and Zerine (Crafting). Romancing a mentor is significantly easier because profession quests award up to +50 affection each, and you naturally complete these quests as part of normal progression. This means you can earn large affection boosts without going out of your way, the mentor levels up alongside you.
| Mentor | Profession | Why They Are Easy |
|---|---|---|
| Graminova | Farming | Farming quests are completed naturally as you grow crops; his loved gifts (Cucumber, Moonflower) are easy to produce |
| Delphin | Fishing | Fishing progression is fast; his loved gifts include common flowers |
| Zerine | Crafting | Crafting is mandatory first; her loved gifts include Stone and Quartz, which you collect in bulk |
| Pastelle | Ranching | Her loved gift (Rabbit Feed) is cheap and always available at the ranch |
| Zephyria | Exploration | Explorer quests take you through the Moonlit Forest; Moondew Shrooms and Mirthshrooms are abundant there |
Cohabitation (Move-In) System Explained
The current version of Starsand Island uses a cohabitation system rather than traditional marriage. The highest level of a romantic relationship is having your partner move into your house, which happens when you reach Heart Level 5 and actively select the Move In dialogue option.
How to Move In
- Reach Heart Level 5 with any romanceable NPC.
- Ensure your house has enough space. The game warns you to make sure you have room to accommodate your partner.
- Place an extra bed in your house.
- Talk to the NPC and select “Move In.” The option appears in their dialogue menu once all conditions are met. It never triggers automatically, you must choose it.
Move-In Restrictions
- You can only move in one character at a time.
- You can reach Heart Level 5 with multiple NPCs and delay the Move-In decision indefinitely.
- Switching partners requires the current cohabitant to move out first.
Romance Progression Timeline
There is no separate confession or dating phase in the current version. The relationship progresses organically:
| Stage | Trigger | What Happens |
|---|---|---|
| Meeting | Encounter NPCs around the island | Some NPCs arrive later, crossover characters Fang and Nia arrive on Autumn 1, Year 1 |
| Heart 1 | 90 affection points | NPC sends return gifts via mail |
| Heart 2 | - | Photo invites and outings unlock, bike rides, picnics, beach visits |
| Heart 3 | 370 cumulative points | Bedroom access; shared outings expand to hot springs and swings |
| Heart 4 | 770 cumulative points | Character-specific bulletin board requests and personal story quests |
| Heart 5 | - | Move-In option appears in dialogue |
Will Marriage and Children Be Added?
Developer Seed Sparkle Lab has confirmed that marriage and children are planned for a future update but have not been confirmed among the day-one 1.0 features. The 1.0 launch on August 18, 2026 expanded relationship quests and added new dating activities, but the cohabitation system remains the current relationship endpoint.
Optimal Gifting Strategy for New Players
If you are just starting and want to maximize friendship across the island:
-
Start with Graminova. His loved gifts (Cucumber, Moonflower, Moondew Shroom) are items you produce naturally through farming and exploration. Plus, his profession quests give +50 affection each, so you are building the relationship passively.
-
Keep a Moonflower stack. Forage Moonflowers in the Moonlit Forest and carry 10–15 at all times. They work as a loved or liked gift for almost everyone.
-
Use mining hauls for Neona and Zerine. Both love ores (Iron, Copper, Gold, Aurorite). A single Moonlit Forest run feeds your crafting queue and two friendship bars simultaneously.
-
Save your Diamonds. Alex’s only loved gift is the Diamond, which is also valuable for crafting and selling. Do not waste Diamonds on anyone else, keep them exclusively for Alex.
-
Talk every day. The +5 daily chat bonus is small but guaranteed, and it costs nothing. Walking past an NPC and pressing the talk button adds up over weeks.
-
Check bulletin boards for personal requests. At Heart 4, character-specific requests appear on the bulletin board. These pay 15–30 affection points plus Gold, making them the most efficient single-action affection gains.
Why This Guide Changed on September 7, 2026
Earlier versions of this page described a different cast: a fisherman named Alex, a baker named Fia, a blacksmith named Clover, an archeologist named Maya, a merchant named Sylvia, plus Roland and Jin. None of those seven names appear on the current in-game records roster, and the community has documented NPC renames across early builds. Likewise, friendship point values and mechanics listed in older versions had no verifiable source. The Heart Level thresholds, affection point values, and cohabitation mechanics in this guide come from the wiki’s Romance Guide and Moving In and Cohabitation pages, cross-checked against multiple player guides.
- NPC gift values, drop tables, and crop growth rates reflect community-documented data for Starsand Island.
- Cross-checked against official community logs, Steam patch updates, and in-game playthroughs.
